As the nights draw in, choose food-friendly wines crammed with fruity flavours for a warming autumnal glow, says Rob Buckhaven

1 Rich and Delish Aldi Mâcon Villages (£4.99) has notes of tinned-peach richness.

Blagger’s guide

White wines from France’s Mâcon area are all made from the Chardonnay grape.

2 Smooth Operator Les Richoises Syrah Grenache (£5.99, Morrisons) packs a blueberry punch.

Blagger’s guide

The Syrah grape adds spicy notes, while Grenache adds colour and fruitiness.

3 Fine and Fancy

Tesco Finest Chateau le Barrail Medoc (£7.99) is a plummy palate-pleaser.

Blagger’s guide

The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is called the “doughnut grape” as it tastes “hollow” in the middle.
